I saw a woman on my way to work today who was pulling a wire shopping basket on wheels full of recyclables and other treasures, and carrying this ultra-chic retro bag. I am now obsessed with finding and possessing one.

Retail Therapy

I had a bad morning so self-medicated with some retail therapy. I bought the Hamilton watch. It was marked down even further on overstock.com, so I couldn't pass it up. I also bought two cotton cardigans, one white and one navy, and the striped swimsuit I learned about on Miss Alli's blog. I am going to frame it and hang it somewhere in my house. It's a child's size small.

Time for a New Watch
Necktie Clutch
Catching Up

Hey, sorry I've been MIA for a while. I think the purse search is over. I am all about the clutch purse now, and I just wish I'd discovered this sooner. Andrea got me one as a gift to make up for the fact that she has TOTALLY SCREWED ME by having a baby and going on maternity leave and making me do all the stuff she does so well and I do so shittily. But I do love the purse. It holds my keys, phone, cards, and sunglasses. If I need to carry more than that we've crossed into tote bag territory.

I just discovered range hoods

OK, I've never been a real fancy kitchen person, but lately I've been seeing these really cute metal range hoods that are like an awning for your stove. Apparently they have a function, but that doesn't concern me. I think they're cute and I want one for my kitchen. Alli or Sarah, if you know of a source for vintage tin range hoods, please share.

At Costco, the House Always Wins

I'm going to Costco at 1pm today. Into each life, a little Costco must fall. It's like going to a casino for me. The house always wins. I am in need of aluminum foil, parchment paper and diapers. And I don't want to run out of these things for another few years, which is why Costco exists. But what will I leave the store with today that I didn't intend to buy? A sewing machine? The 40-Year Old Virgin on DVD? A variety-pak of different kinds of tape? The cute greenhouse, pictured above? Stay tuned.

I'm Purse Challenged

I need a purse. I've been lugging around giant tote bags for the past several months and I'm ready to consolidate and pare down. I want something that's roughly the size of a loaf of sliced Oroweat. No bigger. I want it to be a shoulder bag. No long straps. I've been searching everywhere and I can't find anything I like. Kate Spade has nothing for me—I like the tote pictured above, but I think it's too small. Coach has nothing for me. Prada has nothing for me, even if I could afford it. Alli and Sarah, will you help me find a cute purse? I just want something basic, but with a bit of flair. I'm willing to pay up to $200, but it has to excite me a little if it's going to cost that much. I like red, green, navy blue, or a combination thereof. It can have a pattern on it as long as it goes with things. I like leather, but it could be a mixture of leather and fabric. Help me, Alli and Sarah. You're my only hope.

Update!
I bought the chandelier. It doesn't ship until August 2. That's OK. It will take me that long to figure out how to wire for it anyway.

What are friends for?

Sarah told me I needed to start a blog to brighten her day. I like to make Sarah happy, so I'm doing it. I'm only telling Sarah and Alli about this blog because, frankly, I doubt anyone else will be interested.
Besides being one of the best friends ever, Sarah turned me onto wearing earrings. I wear earrings almost every day now, unless I have a lot of other bling going on that would compete with the earrings. I saw these earrings on the Barneys web site and they made me think of Sarah. If they get marked down to $10, I'll probably buy them for her. Depending on how much the shipping costs.
This blog is off to a rollicking start, isn't it?
